What You’ll Need
- Compatible fog light kit for Smart W453 (2016-2019)
- New headlight stalk switch (fog light-enabled)
- Screwdriver set (Torx + Phillips)
- Laptop (with USB port for OBD adapter)
- OBD-II adapter (ELM327 recommended)
- Electrical tape & zip ties

1. Locate the Front Bumper Wiring Harness Connector
First, reach the back of the front turn signal assembly. Locate the front bumper wiring harness connector—it’s a plastic clip-in type.

2. Replace the Headlight Stalk Switch
Next, turn the steering wheel to access the dashboard baffle. Remove the baffle screws, pull out the old switch, then plug in the new fog light stalk.

3. Activate Fog Lights via Laptop & Software
- First, install the OBD adapter driver on your laptop.
- Then, connect the OBD-II adapter to your Smart W453’s OBD port (under the dashboard).
- Finally, launch fog light activation software (e.g., DL4ALL) and follow on-screen prompts.

4. Adjust the Fog Lights
Finally, turn on the fog lights. Use the adjustment screws on the fog light assembly to aim them—avoid dazzling oncoming drivers (aim slightly downward).
